Easter Celebrated Across The Bronx

Bronx Christians recently observed Good Friday and and celebrated Easter Sunday, marking the end of 40 days of Lent which, according to various sources, is a period of repentance, the purpose of which is the preparation of believers for Easter through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, as well as mortifying the flesh, simply living, and self-denial.

National Public Health Week 2026 is a time to recognize the power of prevention, the importance of community, and the responsibility we all share in building healthier, more equitable communities. Celebrated each April, and led by the American Public Health Association, the week highlights important issues such as mental health, access to care, environmental health, and the social factors that shape well-being. 

UPDATE Kingsbridge: Gas Rupture Sealed on W 231st Street but Ruins Tuesday Lunch Trade for Small Businesses

There were no injuries reported after a gas rupture on 231st Street and Broadway in the Kingsbridge section of The Bronx on Tuesday, April 7, according to FDNY. A strong odor of gas resulting from the leak drew several emergency service units and Con Edison to the scene where they were seen working for a few hours to evacuate the affected streets and order the closure of some local businesses while they worked to seal the rupture, hampering the regular lunch trade.
