The FDNY responded to a report of a child who was locked inside a parked car on Saturday night, April 11, in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx.
When contacted, an FDNY spokesperson said the department received a a 911 call at 8.26 p.m. from 264 East 204th Street by Mosholu Parkway South but no information was provided by the caller. The spokesperson said one person refused medical attention.
At the scene, the FDNY and an ambulance were present and firefighters were observed finishing up their operation having seemingly assisted a male driver reopen his locked vehicle, inside of which was his infant daughter, estimated to be around 2 years of age.

The FDNY and ambulance then left. We asked some local onlookers if they had seen what happened but they hadn’t. When asked what happened, a man standing beside the car, who appeared to look relieved, declined to explain except to say, “She locked me out.”
An infant girl was seen seated sideways in the front passenger seat, seemingly calm and looking up at the man who was standing outside the car on the passenger door side. The little girl’s legs were facing the door at that point and the passenger side door was open.
Though it didn’t appear to have been the case here and the little girl appears to have closed the door with the keys inside the car, generally, drivers are advised to never ever leave children or animals unattended in a car.

Norwood News previously reported on the death of one-year-old twin babies, Luna Rodriguez and Phoenix Rodriguez, in July 2019 who died after they were left, unintentionally, for around 8 hours in the backseat of a parked car at 130 West Kingsbridge Road in the Fordham Manor section of The Bronx, while their father went to work at James J. Peters Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
We also reported on another incident in June 2024 when a Bronx mom was arrested for allegedly leaving her kids in a car unattended in hot weather.
