For three straight weeks, as reported, family members displaced by a 5-alarm, fatal fire in Belmont that also resulted in several injuries, have been back at the building, now encased by a temporary wooden barricade, keeping vigil and searching the broken windows for any glimpse of the estimated seven cats and other animals left behind after the blaze. Residents believe they may still be inside the hollowed-out structure.
UPDATE Fordham Manor: One-Year-Old Boy Dies in Fatal Fire on Bainbridge Avenue, 6-Year-Old Twins Critical
Police have confirmed that a one-year-old boy has died during a major residential fire that broke out in the Fordham Manor section of the Bronx on Monday afternoon, May 11. They also said a 6-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl (twins) remain in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital. Several others were reported injured during the blaze, fire officials said.

On the 16th day after a fatal Belmont fire that broke out at 660 East 187th Street destroyed the building, animal rights advocates and neighbors joined displaced residents of the building on Thursday, May 7, to advocate for their pets and to demand that the City allow access to the building to rescue at least seven cats and one dog left inside.

Major Drug Stash Location Uncovered near Yankee Stadium & Two Bronx Men Arrested
Two Bronx men were arrested on narcotics possession charges following an investigation that dismantled a major drug stash location near Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, federal prosecutors said Monday. A court authorized search of a home located at 69 West 164th Street, Apt. 2, yielded a combined total of around 2.5 kilograms (over five pounds) of cocaine, ketamine, and MDMA, as well as around 30 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, over 100 pounds of marijuana, and $85,000 cash, they said.

Surviving displaced residents of the devastating fire in Belmont on April 21 in which two people were killed say they have been calling 311, the FDNY, and local elected officials to seek answers on the cause of the fire, retrieval of any salvageable belongings, and on the status of at least seven cats and one dog believed to have been left behind inside the building.
