DEP: Jerome Park Reservoir to Remain Dry until 2028

Bronx residents and visitors looking to jog or walk around the man-made Jerome Park Reservoir this summer will have to wait some time to take in views of the water site. The reservoir, which spans the Bronx neighborhoods of Bedford Park, Van Cortlandt Village and Kingsbridge Heights, will remain dry until the end of next year according to NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) officials.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Mike Flynn broke ground on Wednesday, July 22, on the redesign of Fordham Road, adding new offset bus lanes from Sedgwick Avenue to Boston Road in The Bronx. They said the project will make commutes faster and more reliable for 130,000 daily bus riders while delivering critical safety upgrades on one of the borough’s highest-crash corridors.

Mosholu Parkland: FOMP, BetaNYC, CM Dinowitz & Residents Participate in Mapping for Equity Event

Future of Mosholu Parkland (FOMP), BetaNYC, Councilman Eric Dinowitz (C.D. 11) and residents, including Venice Turraine, gathered on Friday, July 10, for Part I of a “Mapping for Equity” event which took place along Mosholu Parkway in Bedford Park. The purpose of the event was to map certain public services and resources on Mosholu Parkway in order to use the data to create more equitable and accessible spaces for the neighborhood going forward.  

Edenwald: Bridgefield Civic League Health Fair Encourages Healthy Living

Residents, health professionals, sponsors, and community organizations gathered at the Northeast Bronx YMCA in the Edenwald section of The Bronx on Saturday, June 27, for the 2026 Annual Health Fair. This year’s theme was “Health is Wealth” and the event was described by those involved in its planning as a well-organized celebration of wellness, [poor health] prevention, community and support. Nutritionist and dietitian Gloria Bent of “Bent on Wellness” served as hostess.

MTA Announces Roll Out of First R211 Upgraded Train Cars on D Line Serving The Bronx

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) New York City Transit is announcing the debut of standard R211A trains on the D line, marking the sixth subway line to be served by the new train cars. MTA officials said the new train cars will eventually replace the R68s, which have been in the system along the line since the 1980s, adding that the news comes just in time for summer trips to the beach at Coney Island. The last stop on the D train in The Bronx is at Norwood / 205th Street.
