Health Check: A Healthier Heart, The Power of Plants

When it comes to taking care of our heart, what we put on our plate matters. Research has consistently shown that eating more plant foods and less animal foods can improve heart health, lower cholesterol, and even reduce the risk of heart disease. Plant foods are fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds and nuts, and beans and legumes. Animal foods include meat and fish, eggs, milk and foods made from milk.

At the 52nd Precinct Community Council meeting and Thanksgiving celebration on Nov. 21, NYPD Community Affairs Officer Stephen Echevarria said if anyone knows of any older adults (or families in need) locally (in the 52 area), some of whom may be too elderly to walk to some of the upcoming, local Turkey giveaways, they can call the 52nd Pct on (718) 220 5811, and he can arrange delivery to that person at their home.

According to the Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (MOEDGBV), human trafficking is the use of power and control to force, trick, or coerce someone into engaging in providing labor or services, which can include commercial sex.
