Council Passes Street Vending Bill Package, Adams Vetoes Bills
Though the street vendor movement made history on Thursday, Dec. 18, with a supermajority (39/51) of the City Council voting “aye” to pass bills 431-B, 408, and 1251 after years of advocacy and with what was described as a broad coalition of support, former Mayor Eric Adams vetoed the bills, along with around 16 others, on the last day of his term on Dec. 31.
Norwood: Man Arrested following Lewd Act in Subway Station
The NYPD said they’ve arrested a 33-year-old man in relation to a lewd act which took place in Norwood in October. Police had been asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached photo and video who they said was wanted in connection with the incident that occurred confines of the 52 Precinct/Transit District 11.

FDNY EMS Local 2507, which represents more than 4,000 emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics and fire inspectors in New York City, recently launched a video ad campaign to urge New York City Mayor Eric Adams to fulfill a commitment from his 2021 mayoral campaign to grant FDNY EMS wage equity with other New York City, front-line first responders i.e. the NYPD and the FDNY.
Two Members of Violent Gang Alliance Charged with Murdering a 16-Year-Old Boy in Belmont
Various federal, State and City officials announced the unsealing of an indictment on Tuesday, Dec. 23, charging Ahmar Garcia, 25, a/k/a “OB,” and Raheem Patterson, 28, a/k/a “Rah Rah,” with allegedly murdering 16-year-old Nisayah Sanchez on Sept. 29, 2021, in the Belmont section of The Bronx as a result of a gang war they said plagued the City throughout that year and cost the lives of multiple young men and boys throughout The Bronx.
