Gibson Sworn in for Second Term as 14th Bronx Borough President
Following what her team described as a decisive victory in both the 2025 New York City primary in which she garnered 71.7% of the vote, and the general election in which she won 82.7% of votes, Vanessa L. Gibson, surrounded by supporters, elected officials, and community leaders, took the oath of office once again on Monday, Dec. 15, to serve her second term.
Elected Officials Appear in Court for Civil Disobedience Case in Defense of Immigrants
State Sen. Gustavo Rivera (S.D. 33) and City Comptroller Brad Lander, appeared in federal court on Nov. 18 in relation to their arrests on Sept. 18, along with several other elected officials, inside or near 26 Federal Plaza courthouse in Lower Manhattan for their respective acts of civil disobedience against immigration agents. As reported, the group had been protesting the treatment of immigrants during their court appearances by immigration agents. An anti-ICE [U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement] protest had also taken place near 26 Federal Plaza the same day [Sept. 18].

According to public federal court records, Dynamic Star LLC, the developer behind the billion-dollar Fordham Landing Development housing project planned along the Harlem River in the University Heights section of The Bronx, has voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, a form of financial reorganization that allows businesses and, in some cases, individuals with significant debt to restructure their obligations and continue operating under court supervision.
