The Bronx Museum of the Arts Teen Council is organizing an exhibition of teen art and is inviting teenage artists to submit artworks that engage with the theme of community. Everyone has a different perspective of what community is; what community means for someone can be completely different from what another person considers community. The museum is hoping to share teens’ creative interpretations on this theme. Selected artworks will be shown at The Bronx Museum of the Arts from May to June 2023. Concourse Village Elementary School held a memorial ceremony for former student Angellyh Yambo on March 30 during which the school’s art room, a place she loved to hang out, was dedicated to her. The former student, who spent much of her youth in Kingsbridge Heights, was tragically killed in broad daylight as she walked home from school with friends in Mott Haven on April 8, 2022. Hundreds of Bronxites turned out for the 6th Annual Child Safety Fair hosted by the Office of Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, held at the Baychester Community Center, located at 1220 East 229th Street in Edenwald on Saturday, April 15. Worshippers once again returned in person for the annual Passion of the Christ Reenactment in Bedford Park with several hundred parishioners and passersby seen watching members of Our Lady of Refuge congregation reenacting the Good Friday procession and crucifixion. Local nonprofit Up Life foundation held an Easter celebration in the Williamsbridge Oval park in Norwood on Sunday, April 9, complete with a DJ, MC, balloons, games, goodie bags, dancing, and more for local families to enjoy.
