New Laws Introduced to Protect Kids from Opioid Exposure following Nicholas Feliz Dominici’s Death

State Sen. Gustavo Rivera (S.D. 33), Councilmember Pierina Sanchez (C.D. 14), Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, and childcare advocates joined Otoniel Feliz Samboy and Zoila Dominici, the parents of the late Nicholas Feliz Dominici, 1, for a press conference on Fordham Road and Grand Concourse on Thursday, Dec. 14, to announce the introduction of a series of bills in the New York State Legislature and the New York City Council to protect children from opioid exposure in childcare facilities.

Representation & Equity at Van Cortlandt House Museum  

At the November Parks committee meeting for Bronx Community Board 8, Parks chair Deb Travis moderated a discussion on the license to operate Van Cortlandt House Museum, the oldest historic house in The Bronx. The Parks committee discussed how the National Society of Colonial Dames of New York, the oldest public/private partnership in New York City, has held the license since the 1896.

Civil Service Career Fair Held at Bronx Community College

In response to what was described as a critical labor shortage impacting public service sectors across New York State, with 12,500 vacancies, State Sen. Robert Jackson (S.D. 31), chair of the NYS civil service & pension committee, in conjunction with NYS Civil Service Commissioner Timothy Hogues, held a civil service career fair at Bronx Community College on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
