UPDATE Rivera & Bronx Doctors Continue Campaign to Pass the NY Health Act ahead of Budget Finalization

State Sen. Gustavo Rivera (S.D. 33) joined two Bronx-based doctors at an event at Lehman College on Saturday, Feb. 28, as he continued a years-long campaign to urge Bronxites to call on his colleagues in State government to become champions of The NY Health Act and ensure its passage during the current State legislative session in Albany. Legislators are currently preparing to finalize the next State budget.

NYC Health Dept Now Accepting New Mobile Food Vending Applications for U.S. Veterans & People with Disabilities

The NYC Health Department announced Friday, March 12, the acceptance of applications to join the mobile food vending waiting list for supervisory licenses for U.S. military veterans and people with disabilities. As the first reopening of a supervisory license waiting list since the program launched in 2023, health department officials said the opportunity expands access to mobile food vending permits while maintaining strong public health standards. 

Cold Chill: ICE Sightings Reported Across The Borough

As the Trump administration tried to quell the outrage building across the country after two American citizens were shot and killed by U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis on Jan. 7 (Renee Goode) and Jan. 24 (Alex Pretti), ICE agent sightings were reported by various Bronx and other New York residents in early February in the Bronx neighborhoods of Riverdale, Highbridge, and Throggs Neck, as well as in Yonkers.
