After Bainbridge Burns Again, Merchants Try to Figure Out a Way Forward

After a third major commercial fire in a 14-year span ripped through a busy business strip of Bainbridge Avenue in Norwood in the early hours of Tuesday, Oct. 10, several small business owners watched in shock as their livelihoods went up in smoke before their eyes and they are, once again, grappling to figure out a way forward.

Mosholu Fall Festival a Success Despite Rain

The Annual Mosholu Fall Festival organized by Future of Mosholu Parkland (FOMP) was held on Saturday, Oct. 7, at P.S. 8’s Mosholu Playground in Bedford Park, and despite the rain, the vibe was positive and there were lots of happy faces seen underneath many hooded rain macs.

Hip Hop Comes Home!

Though most argue it hasn’t ever left, Hip Hop officially came home to 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Morris Heights section of The Bronx with a special free block party and concert, marking its 50th anniversary at its birthplace on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023. Performers included KRS One, Flavor Flav of Public Enemy, The Sugar Hill Gang, Slick Rick, Talib Kweli of Black Starr, the Cold Crush Brothers, Chuck D, C.L. Smooth, Hakim Green, Wise Intelligent, Peter Gunz, and many more.

CM Dinowitz Breaks Down Highlights of $107 Billion City Budget & $30 Million for C.D. 11

City Councilman Eric Dinowitz (C.D. 11) gave a budget presentation to district residents on Wednesday, Aug. 2, highlighting some of the local initiatives that will benefit from funding, following the adoption of the City’s $107 billion budget for the 2024 fiscal year. The councilman went over the city budget process, discussed the major highlights from the latest adopted city budget, and broke down some of the $30 million plus in discretionary funding for capital projects and other funding secured for C.D. 11, in conjunction with Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson.
