Heat Advisory in Effect from Aug. 8 at 3.23 a.m. to Aug. 9 at 8 p.m., Temperatures in Lower 100s Possible

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory which will be in effect from 3:23 a.m. until Aug. 9 at 8 p.m. NWS officials said heat index values indicate that temperatures  in the lower 100s are possible in The Bronx and in all of New York City, with high humidity forecast which may cause heat related illnesses to occur.   New York City residents are advised to call 311 to identify cooling center locations and obtain “Beat the Heat” safety tips. UPDATE NWS Issues Thunderstorm Warning & Flood Advisory for Monday, July 25, until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for July 25 until 1.15 p.m. for The Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens in New York, and for Essex, Southern Bergen, Northern Union, Eastern Passaic, and Hudson Counties in New Jersey. It has also issued a flood advisory which is in effect until 8 p.m.   NWS officials said at 12.25 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over East Hanover, or near Caldwell, moving east at 35 mph. There is an expected hazard of 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail of 0.75 inches, according to the NWS radar.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a severe thunderstorm warning for July 21 until 8 p.m. for The Bronx, Queens, Manhattan Southeastern Bergen and Southern Westchester and a severe flash flood warning until 6 p.m.   NWS said a severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. on July 21 for The Bronx, Manhattan and Southeastern Bergen and Westchester Counties.   At 12.52 p.m., the thunderstorm was located over Rutherford, and was moving east at 15 mph. A hazard of 60 mph wind gusts and one inch size hail is possible according to indicators from an NWS radar.
