West Farms: HPD Launches Housing Lottery for Senior Apartments at 915 Elsmere Place

NYC Department of Housing, Preservation & Development (HPD) has launched an affordable housing lottery for senior apartments at 915 Elsmere Place, a nine-story building in the West Farms section of The Bronx, as reported by YIMBY.   Designed by Marin Architects and developed by Stagg Group, the structure yields 72 residential units and 15 parking spaces. Available on NYC Housing Connect, HPD’s online portal, are 39 units for residents earning 80 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $55,612 to $187,330. UPDATE Elections 2022: Nov. 8 Unofficial Results & Reaction to Statewide and North Bronx Races

After the polls closed on Tuesday, Nov. 8, the New York City Board of Elections released the initial, unofficial results of the general elections, based on a percentage of returned poll site scanners. Teacher Arrested in The Bronx for Alleged Sexual Abuse, Other Charges

An on-duty public school teacher has been arrested in the Bronx for alleged sexual abuse and other charges, police said.   An NYPD spokesperson said, on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 2.51 p.m., an on-duty New York City employee was arrested and charged within the confines of the 43rd Precinct, which covers the neighborhoods of Westchester Avenue, Castle Hill Avenue, White Plains Road, and Parkchester.   The spokesperson said Paul Anthony Tyrrell, 38, an NYC Department of Education (DOE) teacher, was arrested and charged with forcible touching, three counts of acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17

“Red-Faced” Bank Robber Charged in Five Area Heists

An unarmed Bronx bank robber who police say was captured earlier this month shortly after a heist on East Fordham Road in Fordham Manor, when a dye pack hidden in some stolen cash exploded and splashed distinctive red ink on the robber’s body and clothes, has now been charged in four similar crimes.   As reported, officers from the 52nd Precinct were called to the Capital One Bank, located at 151 East Fordham Road and East 190th Street at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, for a report of a bank robbery.
