Local graffiti removal group, Guerinos against Graffitti* have been thanked by their neighbors following the group’s confirmation that most of the graffiti on 204th Street between Mosholu Parkway and Valentine Avenue in Bedford Park has been recently removed. Sirio Guerino, cofounder of the group, said the work was done in honor of the May 52nd Precinct Community Council Meeting. Longtime, beloved Tracey Towers resident, Sallie Caldwell, an active member of the Norwood and Bedford Park communities, a board member of the Jerome Gun Hill BID, and honorary member of the 52nd Precinct Community Council, has died at the age of 84. Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7) members joined residents for the annual “flagging of the graves” event on Wednesday, May 24, ahead of Memorial Day weekend, Volunteers at Woodlawn Cemetery on Webster Avenue on the Norwood-Woodlawn border also participated by locating the gravesites of U.S. veterans and placing an American flag at each grave. Police said a New York City employee was arrested in the 52nd Precinct, which covers the Bronx neighborhoods of Bedford Park, Fordham, Kingsbridge, Norwood, Bronx Park, and University Heights. A police spokesperson said that on Sunday, June 4, at around 10.10 a.m., Jacet Williams, 32, a female NYPD police administrative aide, was arrested. Police said she was charged with alleged assault and harassment. A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law. The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying and locating the person seen in the attached photo who department officials say is sought for questioning in connection to an assault that occurred in Fordham Manor. Police that on Thursday, June 1, at around 8.55 p.m., the victim, a 68-year-old man, was standing in the vicinity of Valentine Avenue and East 194th Street when he got into an argument with another person. The person allegedly punched the victim in the face and body multiple times, police said. “The individual was last seen fleeing southbound on Valentine Avenue on foot,”
