UPDATE Norwood: Burst Water Mains Creates River on Bainbridge Ave & East 206th Street

An apparent broken water mains wreaked havoc on early morning commuters in Norwood as Bronxites returned to work after the long, holiday weekend, sending water flowing into the subway and closing a popular corner coffee shop as water to the entire building was shut off. According to an unidentified MTA worker, the burst pipe occurred some time before 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, at the intersection of East 206th Street and Bainbridge Avenue. Water was seen coming up from multiple locations in the street and even from the wall and ceiling at the East 205th Street subway station.

A man has been hospitalized with severe head trauma following a road accident in Woodlawn Heights. On Sunday, July 3, at approximately 1.08 p.m., police responded to a road accident in the vicinity of East 233rd Street and Webster Avenue, located in the 47th Precinct. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on June 29 that a Bronx woman and her 17-year-old son were charged with murder, manslaughter and additional charges in the August 2021 death of the woman’s seven-year-old daughter, Julissia Batties. A woman estimated to be in her thirties has died following a hit and run incident in West Farms. As residents in Norwood, Bedford Park and other communities across the borough complain of blaring, amplified music, illegal cookouts, and double-parked vehicles, heard and seen at all hours of the night, the 52nd Precinct’s commanding officer announced he now has two teams specifically working on these issues. The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the group of individuals seen in the attached video who are sought for questioning in connection to a reckless endangerment incident that occurred in Williamsbridge, located in the 47th precinct. It was reported to police that on June 12, at around 3.22 a.m., in the vicinity of East 215th Street and Barnes Avenue, the group of unidentified individuals got into a verbal dispute with each other, at which point a reported good Samaritan, in a white Nissan, pulled up to the corner to speak to a female in the group.

An off-duty male New York City employee was arrested and charged with assault in the 40th precinct, according to the NYPD. The precinct serves Port Morris, Mott Haven, and Melrose.
