Op-Ed: Democrats Disagree on New PR Status Bill

Puerto Rico’s non-voting Resident Commissioner in Congress, Pablo José Hernández Rivera, (D-PR), introduced a new bill on June 10 to address Puerto Rico’s status as a U.S. territory. The day after the bill’s introduction, Democrats, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) and Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (NY-7), Y), issued the following joint statement opposing the new bill:

Mosholu Parkland: FOMP, BetaNYC, CM Dinowitz & Residents Participate in Mapping for Equity Event

Future of Mosholu Parkland (FOMP), BetaNYC, Councilman Eric Dinowitz (C.D. 11) and residents, including Venice Turraine, gathered on Friday, July 10, for Part I of a “Mapping for Equity” event which took place along Mosholu Parkway in Bedford Park. The purpose of the event was to map certain public services and resources on Mosholu Parkway in order to use the data to create more equitable and accessible spaces for the neighborhood going forward.  

Norwood: Man Sought for Robbery on Jerome Avenue

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached photo who they say is sought in connection with a robbery that occurred in the Norwood section of The Bronx. 

North Riverdale: Second Sexual Assault Takes Place at Van Cortlandt Park

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached photo who they say is wanted in connection with a sexually motivated robbery that occurred beside or inside Van Cortlandt Park in the the North Riverdale section of The Bronx. It is the second sexual assault to take place at approximately the same location in a month.
