JASA Older Adult Center Holds Memorial for Community Activists Nat Solomon & Cecilia Greene

The lives of Nat Solomon and Cecilia Greene, described by those who knew them as dedicated community activists, were celebrated recently during a heartfelt memorial event held in Van Cortlandt Village after they recently passed away one day apart. The late Nat Solomon died on Monday, Jan. 22, aged 80, and as reported, the late Cecilia Greene died on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the age of 91.

Two Moped Riders Sought in Bronx & Manhattan Armed Robbery Pattern

The NYPD is appealing to the public for help identifying the people seen in the attached photo and surveillance video who they say are sought in connection with a robbery pattern that was identified during December and January across various Bronx neighborhoods located within the perimeters of both the 49th and the 50th Precincts, as well as in other northern Manhattan neighborhoods. 

Van Cortlandt Park: Motor Vehicle Crash Causes Car to Overturn, Occupants Free Themselves

A motor vehicle accident was reported on the southbound lanes of the Major Deegan Expressway, approaching Van Cortlandt Park South, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at around 1:38 p.m. All lanes were cleared as of 2:23 p.m. according to New York State officials.   Norwood News contacted the FDNY to obtain further details on any reported injuries. An FDNY spokesperson said the department was alerted to a two-vehicle road accident at 13.28 on Tuesday, which involved one vehicle which had overturned at Exit 11 of the expressway. Bridge Lift Testing at Robert F. Kennedy Bridge Scheduled for Early Friday Morning, April 8

Bridge lift testing on the Manhattan span of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge is scheduled for the early morning of Friday, April 8, with  intermittent closures planned for both directions of traffic. Intermittent, full closures over the Harlem River will take place between midnight and 5 a.m. for bridge lifts to test mechanical functionality and allow routine preventative maintenance.   Each closure will last approximately 20 minutes. Passengers traveling on the M60 bus, which offers service to LaGuardia Airport, should expect delays.
