Two Moped Riders Sought in Bronx & Manhattan Armed Robbery Pattern

THE NYPD IS appealing to the public for help identifying the people seen in this photo who they say are sought in connection with a robbery pattern that was identified across various Bronx and North Manhattan neighborhoods in December 2023.

The NYPD is appealing to the public for help identifying the people seen in the attached photo and surveillance video who they say are sought in connection with a robbery pattern that was identified during December and January across various Bronx neighborhoods located within the perimeters of both the 49th and the 50th Precincts, as well as in northern Manhattan.

 

Police said the first incident occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023 at around 2.30 p.m. in the northeast corner of Van Cortlandt Village. They said a 67-year-old female victim was approached in the vicinity of Van Cortlandt Park West and Dickinson Avenue by two people riding a dark-colored moped. They said the two riders displayed a knife and stole the victim’s phone, before fleeing to an unknown location on the moped. They said the victim sustained no physical injuries during the incident.

 

Police said the second incident took place on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023 at around 1.50 p.m. in Fieldston, when a 38-year-old female victim was approached in the vicinity of Broadway and 252nd street once again by two people riding a dark-colored moped. They said the two once again displayed a sharp object and stole the 38-year-old victim’s phone before fleeing to unknown location on  the moped. They said the victim did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the incident.

 

Police said the third incident took place on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023 at around 3.55 p.m. in northern Manhattan. They said a 31-year-old female victim and a 28-year-old female victim were walking in the vicinity of Henry Hudson Parkway and West 180th Street, when they were approached by two people, once again, riding a dark-colored moped. They said the two suspects once again displayed a sharp object and stole the 31-year-old victim’s bag which contained some credit cards and the 28-year-old victim’s phone before fleeing the location on the moped. They said neither victim sustained any injuries during the incident.

 

The NYPD said the fourth incident occurred on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023 [New Year’s Eve] at around 2.57 p.m. also in Van Cortlandt Village, when a 26-year-old female victim was approached in the vicinity of 115 Van Cortland Park South by two people who were once again riding a dark-colored moped. They said the two once again displayed a sharp object and stole the 26-year-old victim’s phone, before fleeing the location on the moped. They said the victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

 

According to police, the fifth incident took place on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at around 5.35 p.m., once again, in Van Cortlandt Village. They said a 19-year-old female victim was approached in the vicinity of Van Cortlandt Park South and Dickinson Avenue by two people again riding a dark-colored moped. They said the two once again displayed a sharp object and stole the 19-year-old victim’s phone before fleeing the location on the moped. They said the victim did not sustain any injuries during this incident.

 

Police said the sixth incident occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at around 5.10 p.m. again in Van Cortlandt Village. They said a 31-year-old female victim was approached in the vicinity of 115 Van Cortlandt Avenue West by two people riding a dark-colored moped. They said the two displayed a sharp object and stole the victim’s phone before fleeing the location on the moped. They said the victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

 

Police said the seventh incident took place on Thursday, Jan. 4, at around 3.45 p.m. in the Parkside Housing Project. They said a 16-year-old male victim was approached in the vicinity of 2970 Bronx Park East, once again by two people riding a dark-colored moped. They said the two displayed a sharp object and forcefully attempted to steal the victim’s backpack before fleeing the location on the moped. They said the victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

 

Police said the eighth incident occurred on Thursday, Jan. 4, at around 3.55 p.m., in Woodlawn Heights. They said a 51-year-old male victim was approached in the vicinity of Van Cortlandt Avenue East and East 233rd Street by two people, once again riding a dark-colored moped. They said the two displayed a sharp object and forcefully attempted to remove the victim’s wallet before fleeing the location on the moped. They said the victim did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident.

 

Police said both suspects are described as male, have dark complexions, and were last seen wearing all black and riding a dark-colored moped.
