Norwood News has been made aware of the sad death of Mrs. Grace Siemer, a longtime Bronx resident, treasurer of the 52nd Precinct Community Council, and active member of Bedford Mosholu Community Association. Democratic Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez (A.D. 80) has declared victory in her State senate general election race in S.D. 34, having secured 64.74 percent of the total votes by 10.55 p.m. on Election Night, based on early voting and Election Day vote unofficial tallies. Absentee and overseas ballots still have to be counted. Her opponent, Republican, Samantha Zherka, won 35.16 percent of the vote on Election Night, as reported. After the polls closed on Tuesday, Nov. 8, the New York City Board of Elections released the initial, unofficial results of the general elections, based on a percentage of returned poll site scanners. These initial results cover both early votes and election day votes. Absentee and overseas ballots still have to be counted, as do the remaining scanners.
