UPDATE D.C. Police Arrest Suspected Gunman Targeting Homeless in NYC & D.C.

The Washington Metropolitan Police announced on Twitter on Tuesday morning that they have arrested a suspect sought for the shooting of various homeless people in New York City and Washington D.C. The news was also confirmed by the NYPD in a tweet on Tuesday.   The NYPD had been asking the public’s assistance identifying the man seen in the attached photos who is wanted for questioning in connection with two shooting incidents that occurred in Manhattan in the 1st and 5th precincts. City Warns of Icy Conditions as Snow and Rain Forecast for Saturday, March 12, at 1 a.m.

The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has issued a winter operations advisory for Saturday, March 12, beginning at 1 a.m. This type of advisory is the department’s “lower level” winter weather message, as opposed to the “higher level” snow alert.   Officials said a wintry mix of rain and snow is expected throughout the day Saturday, and depending on exact timing and temperature, New York City may receive up to one inch on paved surfaces, and up to three inches on unpaved surfaces. City Issues ‘Winter Operations Advisory’ for Wednesday, March 9, from 6 a.m.

The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has issued a winter operations advisory for Wednesday, March 9, beginning at 6 a.m., in advance of expected snowfall. A winter operations advisory is the department’s lower level winter weather message, as opposed to the higher level “snow alert.”   Following warm temperatures earlier in the week, snow is expected to fall throughout the day Wednesday. Accumulation on pavement is not likely, but a coating to two inches may accumulate on unpaved surfaces. Baychester Vicinity: Gunman Shoots 27-Year-Old Man During Attempted Robbery

    The NYPD is asking the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached surveillance video and photos who is sought in connection to an attempted gunpoint robbery that occurred just north of the Baychester neighborhood.   It was reported to police on Sunday, March 6, inside 3431 Baychester Avenue (Bodega), at approximately 10.53 a.m., an unknown man entered the location, pulled out a gun and approached a 27-year-old male victim. UPDATE Eastchester: Suspect Found Dead Following Fatal Stabbing of 26-Year-Old Woman & 6-Year-Old Girl

The NYPD said the person sought in connection to the reported murder of a 26-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl in the Eastchester section of The Bronx, has been found deceased.   On Saturday, March 5, at approximately 11.56 p.m., police responded to a call for a wellness check at a building on Monticello Avenue in Eastchester, located in the 47th precinct.   Upon arrival, police observed the 26-year-old woman and the 6-year-old girl, both with stab wounds about their bodies and both unconscious and unresponsive. Norwood: Shelter Resident Arrested following Assault as Homelessness Debate Continues

Police report a man was assaulted in the Norwood section of The Bronx on Sunday at the Jerome Avenue Men’s Shelter (JAMS), and another man has been arrested in connection with the incident.   An NYPD spokesperson told Norwood News the assault was reported at around 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 6, at 3600 Jerome Avenue, the address for JAMS. “A 45-year-old male victim claims that he received a laceration to the lip inside a cafeteria because he was punched,” the spokesperson said. “Then, he lost a tooth.   Police confirm that officers are attempting to engage in dialogue with a man who has reportedly barricaded himself inside 3100 Webster Avenue at E 204th Street in the Norwood section of The Bronx.   The incident was reported at around 10.45 a.m. on Sunday, March 6.
