  Following a brutal assault in Norwood on a cab driver in March 2022, and a subsequent rally and offer of a reward to catch his assailants, on Aug. 13, another Bronx-based cab driver from Co-Op City, who was working in Queens, was beaten to death under similar circumstances.   On Thursday, March 17, at 3560 Webster Avenue in Norwood, the NYPD told the Norwood News that a 61-year-old cab driver, later identified as Carlos Infante, was punched in the face, having tried to intervene during a dispute. UPDATE Fordham Heights: Unconfirmed Report of Man Slashed in the Back

Norwood News has received an as yet unconfirmed report of a slashing in Fordham Heights.   Users of the Citizens’ app posted an unverified video on Saturday, March 19, at around 4.30 p.m., reportedly showing police and FDNY/EMS presence in the vicinity of Tiebout Avenue and East Fordham Road in or around that time, reportedly following an alleged slashing of a man in the back, with a suspect having allegedly fled the scene, armed with a knife.   Norwood News contacted the NYPD to corroborate the incident. Williamsbridge: Search for Missing 59-Year-Old Man

  Police said a 59-year-old man has been reported missing in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx.   An NYPD spokesperson told Norwood News on March 19 that James Gaines, 59, was last seen at 799 East Gun Hill Road (Apt. 229). The address is the location of Bronx Assisted Living and police added that there is no curfew at the nursing home.   Gaines was described by police as being 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs about 180 pounds, has dark skin, dark eyes, black hair and has a beard. Fordham Manor: Woman Hospitalized following Hit & Run Incident

The NYPD said a woman was brought to an area hospital after being hit by a vehicle in a hit and run incident which occurred on the border of the Fordham Manor and Fordham Heights neighborhoods.   Police responded to a 911 call at around 1.45 p.m. on Friday, March 18, following a report that a woman had been knocked down by a vehicle at East 188th Street and East Fordham Road. Fordham Manor: Search for Man following Assault & Robbery of Two Women

    The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance identifying the person seen in the attached video and photos who is sought for questioning in connection to a robbery that occurred in Fordham Manor. On Saturday, Feb. 19, at approximately 10 p.m., police said two 67-year-old women invited an unidentified man to their apartment, located in the vicinity of Grand Concourse and East Kingsbridge Road. Atlanta Man charged with Running over Woman Walking Dog inside Claremont Park

No one could have predicted that a woman who was simply walking her dog in Claremont Park, away from speeding motorists on the streets surrounding the park, would be hit by an out-of-control driver, barreling down a footpath inside the park just before dawn on Saturday. Wakefield: Man Dies following Night Scooter Collision

Police have confirmed a 63-year-old man has died following a road collision in the Wakefield section of The Bronx.   Police said officers responded to a 911 call on Monday March 14, at approximately 10.06 p.m. regarding a motor vehicle collision, which involved a gas-powered scooter, in the vicinity of East 241st Street and Richardson Avenue, in Wakefield.   Upon arrival, the responding officers encountered an unconscious 63-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway with trauma to the head.
