AG James Announces Manslaughter Charges against Former NYPD Sergeant in Fatal Water Cooler Throw

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Tuesday, Jan. 23, that manslaughter charges were being brought against former New York City Police Department (NYPD) Sgt. Erik Duran, 37, of Putnam County, following a police-involved operation, as reported, during which a water cooler was thrown at Bronx man, Eric Duprey, 30, in the Fordham Manor section of the Bronx last August, resulting in his death.

Primaries 2024: District Leader Yves Filius Withdraws from 77th Assembly District Race

District leader in the 77th assembly district, Yves Filius, announced on Jan. 18 that he was withdrawing his candidacy for the role of assembly member in the 77th assembly district in the upcoming June Primary, a position made vacant, as reported, due to the sudden resignation of former Assembly Member Latoya Joyner earlier this month. 

UPDATE Primaries 2024: Bronx Dems Announce Landon Dais as Nominee for A.D. 77 Seat in Feb. 13 Special Election

Landon Dais was announced as the Democratic nominee for Assembly District 77 at the Bronx County Committee meeting of the 77th Assembly District held on Jan. 18, according to the Bronx Democratic Party. The committee announced that the duly elected committee members voted unanimously to nominate Dais for the seat, vacated when, as reported, former Assembly Member Latoya Joyner announced her surprise resignation on Jan. 4.
