Health Check: Supporting Our Loved Ones on Their Breastfeeding & Infant Feeding Journeys
August 1-7 is World Breastfeeding Week, but Charline Ogbeni celebrates breastfeeding and infant feeding all year round. Every Wednesday evening, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., you can find Ms. Ogbeni at her computer screen, facilitating conversations between groups of parents or future parents.
Elected Officials Encourage New Yorkers to Make Use of Family Enrichment Centers (FEC)
Elected officials are encouraging New Yorkers to make full use of the City’s local Family Enrichment Centers (FEC). Launched in 2017, these are welcoming walk-in, family-centered spaces, open to all, co-designed with community members, and run by the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS). The availability of such centers seems all the more relevant given the latest wave of violence unleashed against young people in The Bronx. Some of the programs include medical support, parent discussion groups, men’s discussion groups, and clothes and food distribution.

UPDATE Mayor Announces $1 Million Investment in Animal Care Centers to Increase Capacity, Hire More Staff & More
New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced Saturday, July 26, a new $1 million investment in Animal Care Centers of New York City (ACC) to increase capacity to better care for the animal shelter populations in Manhattan and Queens and improve shelter conditions by supporting the hiring and training of 14 additional staff for those locations.
