UPDATE Bedford Park: Man Arrested, Woman Fatally Shot, One Teen, One Child Stable in Early Morning Tragedy
Four days before Valentine’s Day, ironically, tragedy has struck the Bedford Park community by Valentine’s Avenue and East 203rd Street once more, as a woman, a teen, and a young child were seemingly gunned down in their home in the early hours of Saturday morning. The woman is dead and the two other victims are stable, police said.
North Central Bronx Hospital Unveils New Employee Wellness Room
NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx (NCB) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 24 as the public hospital unveiled a brand-new, employee wellness room. Jeremy Segall, assistant vice president of human experience at NYC Health + Hospitals said of the occasion, “The opening of the workforce wellness room is a pivotal moment for permanence of well-being across our system, to have a workforce wellness room where people can come to take time to connect with their own concrete needs.”

Applications Open for Brandon Hendricks Scholarship as Najhim Luke Found Guilty for Fatal Shooting of Basketball Star
Applications are open for high school students for the Annual Brandon Hendricks (College) Scholarship. The news comes as Najhim Luke, 22, was found guilty for the fatal shooting of the late Brandon Hendricks, who was fatally shot in crossfire at just 17 years of age in June 2020 in the Morris Heights section of The Bronx. Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark’s office announced on Monday, Jan. 30, that Luke, who, as reported, was arrested and later charged in September 2020 in connection with the incident, was found guilty on one count of manslaughter and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
