Bridge Lift Testing at Robert F. Kennedy Bridge Scheduled for Early Friday Morning, April 8

Bridge lift testing on the Manhattan span of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge is scheduled for the early morning of Friday, April 8, with  intermittent closures planned for both directions of traffic. Intermittent, full closures over the Harlem River will take place between midnight and 5 a.m. for bridge lifts to test mechanical functionality and allow routine preventative maintenance.   Each closure will last approximately 20 minutes. Passengers traveling on the M60 bus, which offers service to LaGuardia Airport, should expect delays. Belmont: 29-Year-Old Man Dies following Scooter Collision

A 29-year-old man has died following a scooter collision in the Belmont section of The Bronx.   On Thursday, March 24, at approximately 10.32 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding an unconscious man who was lying on the roadway at Southern Boulevard near Crotona Avenue, in the Belmont section of the Bronx.   Upon arrival, officers observed a 29-year-old man, lying on the roadway, with trauma to the body. UPDATE Van Cortlandt Village Fire Under Control as Mayor Signs New Fire Safety Law

A residential fire in a multiple dwelling was brought under control in the vicinity of Van Cortlandt Village in The Bronx on the same day that the mayor signed an executive order strengthening fire safety legislation.   The FDNY said all hands were called to respond to the fire at 7.35 p.m. on Monday, March 21, at 68 W. 238th Street, a 5-story building located just outside the border of the Van Cortlandt Village section of the borough.   The fire was reported by the FDNY on the first floor of the building. Fordham Manor: Woman Hospitalized following Hit & Run Incident

The NYPD said a woman was brought to an area hospital after being hit by a vehicle in a hit and run incident which occurred on the border of the Fordham Manor and Fordham Heights neighborhoods.   Police responded to a 911 call at around 1.45 p.m. on Friday, March 18, following a report that a woman had been knocked down by a vehicle at East 188th Street and East Fordham Road. Morris Avenue Basement Fire Used All Hands as FDNY Provides Fire Safety Training

  Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 8.14 p.m. on Friday, March 18, in the vicinity east of the Concourse section of The Bronx. On arrival at 8.16 p.m., firefighters found a fire in the basement of a 5-story, multiple dwelling at 1242 Morris Avenue.   The FDNY confirmed that all hands were used, with 12 units dispatched, comprising 60 firefighters. There were no injuries resulting from the fire, and the cause is still under investigation according to department officials.
