UPDATE North Riverdale: My Sister’s Keeper “Unconference” Honors Various Leaders

New York City Public Schools, My Sister’s Keeper (MSK) Bronx Committee, along with the Office of the Bronx Borough President, hosted the “My Sister’s Keeper ‘Unconference’,” on Wednesday, March 27, in North Riverdale. Over 1,000 students from schools across The Bronx filled the Hayes Auditorium on the campus of the University of Mount St. Vincent, located at 6301 Riverdale Avenue, as various girl and women leaders from different backgrounds were honored and encouraged to continue their work. 

UPDATE Woodlawn: Bob Nolan Honored by BP at Irish Heritage Month Celebration

Former City official and aide to four former Bronx borough presidents, Robert “Bob” Francis Nolan, who died on Dec. 15, 2023 at the age of 70, as reported, was honored with a posthumous award in the presence of his family during an Irish Heritage Month celebration hosted by the Office of the Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson on March 27.

Garifuna Heritage Celebrated at Bronx Borough Hall

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson joined author José Francisco Aviles and The Garifuna Coalition, USA, Inc. for an evening celebrating Garifuna culture, tradition, and music in the Rotunda of Bronx Borough Hall on Thursday, March 7. The colorful celebration included performances of traditional folk dances and songs.

Torres Announces $18,171,279 in Federal Funds for Community Projects

Congressman Ritchie Torres (NY-15) announced $18,171,279 in federal funding for community projects across New York’s 15th Congressional District on Thursday, March 21. The funding, which his office said was secured through the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations process, will support a range of initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding access to healthcare, and enhancing educational opportunities for constituents.
