Six Bronx Men Arrested in Drug Packaging Mill Sting Operation, Cocaine, Cash & Fentanyl Seized  

Six men were arrested and charged in connection with a fentanyl packaging mill operating inside a Bronx apartment building located in the Mt. Eden section of the borough, prosecutors said Tuesday, Jan. 13. According to officials at the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP), over six kilograms of fentanyl (13 pounds), carrying an estimated street value of more than $1 million, were recovered from the apartment, including tens of thousands of dosage-sized glassine envelopes ready for distribution. They said law enforcement also recovered bulk quantities of cocaine from the apartment.

Obituary: Joseph Anthony Castro

Mr. Joseph Anthony Castro, a resident of New York since 1947, died Tuesday Dec. 30, 2025, at his home in The Bronx. He was born Oct 18, 1947, in New York, NY to Octavio and Julia (Torres) Castro. He is survived by a niece, Jamie Castro, living in Battle Creek, Michigan. Joseph will be laid to rest in Michigan, beside his brother, Fillip O. Castro, and other family at Battle Creek Memorial Park.

FDNY EMS Local 2507 Launches Ad Urging Mayor to honor 2021 Campaign Promise of Wage Equity

FDNY EMS Local 2507, which represents more than 4,000 emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics and fire inspectors in New York City, recently launched a video ad campaign to urge New York City Mayor Eric Adams to fulfill a commitment from his 2021 mayoral campaign to grant FDNY EMS wage equity with other New York City, front-line first responders i.e. the NYPD and the FDNY.

UPDATE Norwood: Family of Allan Feliz Holds Rally outside NYPD HQ Calling for Justice

Family and friends of Allan Feliz, who was shot and killed during a traffic stop near Woodlawn Cemetery in the Norwood section of The Bronx on Oct. 17, 2019 by a police sergeant, held a rally outside NYPD headquarters in Lower Manhattan on July 8, to urge Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch to change course after she announced on July 3 that she decided not to fire the involved sergeant, now an NYPD lieutenant, Jonathan Rivera. Tisch took the decision not to fire Rivera despite the recommendation of NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Trials Rosemarie Maldonado.
