South Bronx: Gibson Delivers 2nd State of the Borough Address at Cardinal Hayes High School

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson delivered her 2nd Annual State of the Borough Address at Cardinal Hayes High School in the auditorium named after Bronx legend and Bronx Walk of Fame inductee Regis Philbin, on April 18, 2024. The borough president outlined major accomplishments that include an investment of over $35 million in education and over $8.9 million in capital allocations to public and private health facilities. 

Norwood: CVS Pharmacy on Bainbridge Avenue Reopens

Following the early morning commercial fire which destroyed several small businesses on Bainbridge Avenue, located between East 205th and East 206th Streets in Norwood on Oct. 10, 2023, and which damaged the CVS pharmacy adjacent to those businesses, the store has since reopened.

Future of Van Cortlandt Jewish Center Still Uncertain

The future of Van Cortlandt Jewish Center (VCJC), as well as the many programs it provides, continues to remain in jeopardy as its representatives negotiate with a developer to sell the property, along with a private home the center owns on the block. Simultaneously, community residents, congregants, and users of VCJC are hoping the center’s management will listen to their concerns and how its potential closure would leave a void in the community.

Applications Open for Tile, Marble & Terrazzo Worker Apprenticeships

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) for Tile, Marble and Terrazzo BAC, Local Union #7 of New York & New Jersey will conduct a recruitment from April 15 through Oct. 25 for five tile setter apprentices; five terrazzo worker apprentices; and five marble, carver, cutter and setter apprentices, NYC New York State Department of Labor announced on Friday, March 15.
