New York City Beaches Reopen for Summer 2023

NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue announced earlier this week that the City’s eight public beaches are open for swimming effective Saturday, May 27, and will remain open through Sunday, Sept. 10. The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person and vehicle seen in the attached photos in the context of a robbery pattern which has been traced across The Bronx and Manhattan during April and May 2023. A 2-alarm fire in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx on Thursday resulted in no injuries, FDNY officials said. The blaze broke out on the 1st floor of a residential building at 5 Minerva Place by Jerome Avenue and Creston Avenue, FDNY officials said, adding that they were alerted to the incident at 1.25 p.m. on Thursday, May 25. An FDNY spokesperson said 25 units, comprising 106 firefighters responded to the scene at the 6-story building and the blaze was placed under control at 2.54 p.m. The spokesperson added that the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The NYPD is seeking the public’s help locating Leone Ultan, 70, who was reported missing from Fordham Manor on Wednesday, May 24. Police said that Ultan of 2550 Webb Avenue was last seen leaving her home on Thursday, May 4, at around 7.25 p.m. She was described by police as female, has a light complexion and white hair, is around 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs around 105 pounds.
