Bowman and Federal Progressive Caucus Call on Federal Reserve to Lower Interest Rates
Before the Federal Reserve’s board of governors’ federal open markets committee meeting on March 20, 23 members of the House and Senate, led by the Congressional Progressive Caucus, called on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to quickly present a plan to start lowering interest rates which the Caucus says continues to squeeze working people.

Fordham Manor: Migrants Removed from Illegal Migrant Shelter, the 2nd Allegedly Run by the Same Man
Several West African migrants were evacuated in late February by City officials due to unsafe living conditions from a make-shift, Bronx migrant shelter located at 305 East Kingsbridge Road in Fordham Manor which was allegedly being illegally run by the same man who had already been busted for allegedly trespassing and allegedly running two other illegal shelters, one at the Old Fordham Library building, also in Fordham Manor, and a second in a Queens furniture store.
DOT Pushes Road Safety after Several Incidents Cause Traffic Chaos Across The Bronx
New York City Mayor Eric Adams and NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced the launch of a new, e-bike safety campaign on March 19. The following day, March 20, Rodriguez joined some of the families of loved ones killed or injured on New York City streets at a separate event to call for the renewal and expansion of the City’s red-light camera program. The announcements came following a week of moped/dirt bike chaos across The Bronx.

The lives of Nat Solomon and Cecilia Greene, described by those who knew them as dedicated community activists, were celebrated recently during a heartfelt memorial event held in Van Cortlandt Village after they recently passed away one day apart. The late Nat Solomon died on Monday, Jan. 22, aged 80, and as reported, the late Cecilia Greene died on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the age of 91.

An investigation into a major narcotics distributor resulted in the seizure of approximately 12 kilograms (more than 26 pounds) of cocaine and over $3 million cash from an apartment in the Norwood neighborhood of the Bronx and the arrest of one 60-year-old man on March 19, federal prosecutors announed on Friday, March 22. They said narcotics and money were concealed inside several pieces of furniture outfitted with hidden trap compartments.

Congressman Ritchie Torres (NY-15) announced $18,171,279 in federal funding for community projects across New York’s 15th Congressional District on Thursday, March 21. The funding, which his office said was secured through the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations process, will support a range of initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding access to healthcare, and enhancing educational opportunities for constituents.
