Co-Op City: Grandmother Dies in Car Accident Stemming from Medical Emergency, Others Injured

A 72-year-old grandmother died on Tuesday, April 21, in the Co-Op City section of The Bronx following a car accident in which the older adult was hit while seated on a bench. Other people were also injured in the collision. The incident stemmed from a medical emergency, according to police.

Eighteen people were taken into custody on Monday, Feb. 16, police said, after an estimated one hundred to five hundred teens participated seemingly in an organized “takeover” of The Mall at Bay Plaza in the Baychester section of The Bronx. When contacted for details of the charges, the NYPD said the details of any charges / summonses were not yet available.

Police said a 44-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a 30-year-old woman on City Island on Wednesday, Sept. 17. A 44-year-old man was also injured during the incident but survived.
