Fifteen people were injured following a bus collision in the Edenwald section of The Bronx on Friday, April 10, EMS officials said.

An EMS spokesperson said the department received a call at 12.37 p.m. on Friday for a report of a motor vehicle collision with injuries at 3919 Baychester Avenue, located between Grenada Place and Strang Avenue.

They said fifteen civilian patients, fourteen with minor injuries and one with serious injuries, were involved. They said nine patients were transported to Jacobi Medical Center in Morris Park and six refused medical attention.

An NYPD spokesperson said, “Vehicle #1 was struck [by] Vehicle #2, [an] MTA bus operated by a 56-year-old male, attempting from the turning lane to make a left turn on 223 Street and Baychester Avenue.”

The spokesperson said the driver of Vehicle #1 (the Honda) was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and the driver of the bus and 18 passengers were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.

With collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigation, while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.

Note: The data presented on this page are preliminary and subject to change. Reasons for this may include re-classifications of deaths later determined to be unrelated to traffic collision, or delays in determining a death from traffic collision that occurred on a date subsequent to the actual crash. A comparison of current and previous year data may not be valid or statistically meaningful.
