Health Commissioner Issues Advisory NYC health commissioner, Dr. Ashwin Vasan, issued a new advisory on Dec. 9 as NYC faces high levels of a triple onslaught of COVID-19, flu, and RSV cases. New Yorkers are strongly urged to wear masks in public, indoor settings, and crowded outdoor settings, to get vaccinated, test regularly, wash hands regularly and stay home, if sick. Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson hosted an event to mark World AIDS Day on Fordham Plaza on Thursday, Dec. 1 to spread awareness about AIDS, a life-threatening condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that attacks the immune system of the patient. The event also served to offer helpful resources to the Bronx community. Plans to install the long-awaited elevator at Mosholu Parkway subway station, which serves the 4 line, and which is located at the border of Jerome Park and Norwood, are finally taking shape according to The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). A fire broke out at Fordham Hill Oval Housing Co-op in the University Heights section of the Bronx on Thursday evening, Dec. 8, FDNY officials said. There were no injuries, they added. According to the FDNY, the alarm was raised at 8.19 p.m. regarding the fire which reportedly broke out in Apt. 12A on the 12th floor of a 15-story building at the multiple dwelling located at 1 Fordham Hill Oval.
