COVID-19 Vaccine Roll-Out Continues Across the City for 5 Through 11-Year-Olds

Inoculation of the COVID-19 vaccine for 5 through 11-year-olds continued on Monday, Nov. 8, and Tuesday, Nov. 9, in the Bronx and across New York City. During a press conference on Tuesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio said over 4,500 children got vaccinated at public schools on Nov. 8 alone. Over 300 Participate in 5K Run/Walk/Roll to End Domestic Violence

  Over 300 people pre-registered and participated in the ‘5-K Run/Walk/Roll to End Domestic Violence’ sponsored by the Bronx District Attorney, Darcel D. Clark, on Saturday, Oct. 16. The event took place along the Grand Concourse, from East 170th Street in Mt Eden to East 161st Street in the Concourse to coincide with Domestic Violence (DV) Awareness Month.   The fourth, annual, in-person event to take place in the borough in the last five years shut down the Grand Concourse to vehicular traffic, and was held in partnership with the New York Yankees and the State University of New York (SUNY).

Funeral Details Announced for Former Salesian High School Student and Coach, Paul Sousa

Pelham Parkway Community Groups Unite for Back-to-School Giveaway

The Albanian American Open Hand Association (AAOHA) and The Pelham Parkway Neighborhood Association (PPNA) collaborated with Miriam Quiñones of Miriam Quin Photography on Sunday Aug. 29 at 2134 Barnes Ave in the Bronx, for a back-to-school giveaway.   Around 650 school backpacks filled with school supplies including pencils, notebooks, erasers, folders and more, were handed out to students. UPDATE Residents Unhappy with Tent “Encampment” on Mosholu Parkway  

Bedford Park residents have been getting more and more vocal about the unsightly, overflowing trash situation on Mosholu Parkway during their regular Bedford Mosholu Community Association (BMCA) meetings, as reported, but another issue which has also raised concern is the growing number of make-shift tents erected by homeless people along the parkway in recent weeks.   As one resident, who went by the Twitter username, @maminature30, tweeted on Monday, Oct. 18, “@EricDinowitzNYC, @norwoodnews, @NYCDHS, @NYPD52Pct How long before the encampment at Moshulu Parkway becomes a tent city? It already doubled in size since last week. Somebody needs to intervene.”
