UPDATE National Weather Service: Flash Flood Watch in Effect in New York City through Tuesday, Oct. 26

New York’s National Weather Service (NWS) bureau issued a flash flood watch on Sunday, Oct. 24, for Southeast New York, including Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Northeast Suffolk, Northern Nassau, Northern Queens, Northern Westchester, Northwest Suffolk, Orange, Putnam, Richmond (Staten Island), Rockland, Southeast Suffolk, Southern Nassau, Southern Queens, Southern Westchester and Southwest Suffolk counties, effective Monday, Oct. 25 through Tuesday, Oct. 26.   An identical flash flood watch has also been issued for the Tri State Area. UPDATE Fordham Manor: Missing 30-Year-Old Man Found Deceased

The NYPD has confirmed that the 30-year-old man who was reported missing on Thursday Oct. 21 from Fordham Manor has been found deceased inside Highbridge Park on West 167th Street and Edgecombe Avenue in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan.   The NYPD had sought the public’s assistance in locating Hancy Rodriguez of 2630 Kingsbridge Terrace in Fordham Manor, who had last been seen on Thursday, Oct. 21, at approximately 6 a.m., inside his home. Fully Vaccinated State Senator Alessandra Biaggi tests Positive for COVID-19

Democratic State Sen. Alessandra Biaggi (S.D. 34), who represents parts of the Bronx and Westchester counties, confirmed that she has tested positive for COVID-19, despite being fully vaccinated.   The senator wrote as part of her weekly update on Friday, Oct. 22, “On Thursday evening I tested positive for COVID-19. University Heights: Search for Missing 22-Year-Old Woman

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 22-year-old woman who has been reported missing from the University Heights section of The Bronx, in the 52nd precinct.   It was reported to the police that Farzana Riche, 22, of 2275 Davidson Avenue in University Heights was last seen on Thursday, October 21, at approximately 6 p.m. in front of her home. She is described as female, approximately 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs 100 pounds, Hispanic, has a slim build, black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, pink pants, and no shoes.

UPDATE Residents Unhappy with Tent “Encampment” on Mosholu Parkway  

Bedford Park residents have been getting more and more vocal about the unsightly, overflowing trash situation on Mosholu Parkway during their regular Bedford Mosholu Community Association (BMCA) meetings, as reported, but another issue which has also raised concern is the growing number of make-shift tents erected by homeless people along the parkway in recent weeks.   As one resident, who went by the Twitter username, @maminature30, tweeted on Monday, Oct. 18, “@EricDinowitzNYC, @norwoodnews, @NYCDHS, @NYPD52Pct How long before the encampment at Moshulu Parkway becomes a tent city? UPDATE Attorney General Letitia James Secures $256M to Combat Opioid Crisis in NYC

  New York State Attorney General Letitia James is delivering more than $256 million to New York City to stem the tide of opioid addiction and overdose. The announcement was made as part of a statewide campaign called, “Heal NY: Turning the Tide on the Opioid Crises.”   James made the announcement inside the auditorium of Lincoln Hospital, located at 234 E 149th St, in Mott Haven, on Oct. 4. Oct. 23 Closure of Entrance Ramp from S/B Sheridan Boulevard to S/B Cross Bronx Expressway

Fordham Manor: Group Assault of 21-Year-Old Man

  The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying eight individuals seen in the attached video who are sought for questioning in connection with a robbery that occurred in Fordham Manor, located in the 52nd precinct.   On Tuesday, Oct. 12, at approximately 9.22 p.m., the individuals approached a 21-year-old man in front of 4 West Kingsbridge Road. They proceeded to kick him, punch him and slash him in the face with a cutting instrument. They also stole the victim’s Android cellphone, before fleeing the location. EMS responded and transported the victim to an area hospital in stable condition.
