City Racial Justice Commission Discusses Racial Disparities in Health and Mental Health

New York City’s Racial Justice Commission (RJC) hosted a virtual panel entitled, “Overcoming Racial Disparities in Health and Mental Health” earlier this summer to discuss health and persistent racial disparities in health and mental health. The event, held on July 20, was hosted by commission chair, Jennifer Jones Austin, and was divided into two, hour-long panels, each made up of three expert panelists. The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance identifying a person of interest, seen in the attached video, who is wanted for questioning in connection with a robbery pattern traced to the 47th and 50th precincts. The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance identifying the individual seen in the attached video who is sought in connection with a robbery that occurred in University Heights, in the 52nd precinct. It was reported to police that on Monday Oct. 25, at approximately 6 p.m., at Five Star Tire Shop located at 2409 Jerome Avenue, two unknown individuals approached two 29-year-old men and displayed a firearm. The New York bureau of the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a wind advisory, effective Friday, Oct. 29, from 2 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 30 at 6 a.m. East winds of between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph are expected in across New York in Manhattan, Southern Nassau, Staten Island, The Bronx, Northern Nassau, Northern Queens, Southern Queens and Brooklyn. A 58-year-old Norwood resident told the Norwood News he was the victim of verbal harassment and an attempted robbery on East Gun Hill Road in the early hours of Thursday, Oct. 14. Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Friday, Oct. 22, that construction has begun on a $64.4 million project to replace the bridge carrying the Bronx River Parkway over the Metro-North Railroad in the Wakefield and Woodlawn Heights sections of the Bronx.
