UPDATE 19-Year-Old from West Farms Arrested in Bronxwide Robbery Pattern

The NYPD has arrested a 19-year-old male in connection to a borough-wide robbery pattern identified at various Bronx businesses in the 42nd, 44th, 46th, 48th and 49th precincts.   The department asked for the public’s help identifying the individual seen in the attached surveillance photos who had been sought for questioning in connection with the various incidents.   It was reported to police that between Thursday, Feb. 17, and Sunday, Feb. 20, between the hours of 5.49 p.m. and 7.10 p.m., the suspect entered multiple commercial establishments ranging from Taco Bell and McDonald’s to Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, and some drug

UPDATE City Issues Travel Advisory Amid Icy Conditions through Friday, Feb. 25

New York City Emergency Management (EMS) issued a travel advisory on Thursday, Feb. 24, which is in effect through Friday, Feb. 25. The National Weather Service had issued a winter weather advisory for New York City the same day which is also in effect until 1 p.m. on Friday.   According to Thursday’s forecast, snow was due to fall on Thursday night and change to a mix of sleet, rain, and possible freezing rain early Friday morning. Man Gets 24 Years for Killing Uncle for Lottery Winnings & Killing Family Friend While on the Run

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Tuesday, Feb. 22, that a man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree manslaughter for the fatal stabbing of his 73-year-old uncle in his South Bronx apartment in June 2018, and for fatally stabbing a woman in a security firm office in the Wakefield section of the Bronx a month later.   Clark said the defendant, Idris Abdul Muhaymin, 49, originally from Georgia, was sentenced to 24 years in prison, and five years of post-release supervision by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Ralph Fabrizio.

Police Make Arrest in Tremont Fatal Shooting of Norwood Man

The NYPD has confirmed a 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Norwood man on Saturday.   Police responded to a call regarding a man who had been shot on Saturday, Feb. 19, at approximately 3.17 p.m., on the corner of East Tremont Avenue and Belmont Avenue in the Tremont section of The Bronx.   Upon arrival, officers discovered a 44-year-old man with five gunshot wounds to the back. Bedford Park: Fire at 2777 Webster Avenue Under Control

A fire in Bedford Park which broke out in a multiple dwelling on Sunday evening has been brought under control, FDNY officials confirmed.   The FDNY later confirmed to Norwood News that the department was alerted to the incident at 7.09 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20 and that it had been reported at 2777 Webster Avenue.
