A brave, quick-thinking neighbor, who is also a survivor of gun violence, is lamenting that he couldn’t save more kids trapped inside his burning Fordham Manor building on Monday, May 11, after he scaled the back of the building minutes after a fire broke out and helped rescue one infant daughter and her mother.
Fieldston: Police Launch Murder Investigation after 2nd Man is Killed at 242nd St. Subway Station
Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in the Fieldston section of The Bronx on Wednesday, May 13. The murder took place at the 242nd Street-Van Cortlandt Park subway station, serving the 1 train., just north of Kingsbridge. The site is the same location as where a double shooting also took place in January, during which a 44-year-old man was fatally shot and a 35-year-old man was also shot and hospitalized.

UPDATE Fordham Manor: One-Year-Old Boy Dies in Fatal Fire on Bainbridge Avenue, 6-Year-Old Twins Critical
Police have confirmed that a one-year-old boy has died during a major residential fire that broke out in the Fordham Manor section of the Bronx on Monday afternoon, May 11. They also said a 6-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl (twins) remain in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital. Several others were reported injured during the blaze, fire officials said.
UPDATE Feds Release Detained Bronx Man Three Days after ICE Crackdown in Norwood
A father of five from the Northwest Bronx who had been reportedly arrested and detained by federal government agents in early February was released from custody on Saturday, May 9, according to Hands Off NYC, the self-described coalition of “over 200 labor unions, faith leaders, and community groups standing together in nonviolent resistance, dedicated to protecting New York City.”
