New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has issued a “winter operations advisory” for Wednesday, Jan. 25, beginning at 7 a.m. Department officials said a winter operations advisory is the department’s “lower level” winter weather message, as opposed to the “higher level” snow alert. Coastal flooding is also expected according to the National Weather Service. DSNY officials said precipitation is expected to begin as wet snow as early as 7 a.m. in parts of the City, with between a half an inch and one inch of accumulation possible before the precipitation changes to rain later in the day. The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating an 85-year-old man who is reported missing from Fordham Manor. It was reported to police that Robert Cofield of 2505 Grand Avenue was last seen Tuesday, Jan. 24, at approximately 7.50 a.m. walking up the stairwell to the southbound platform [of Fordham Road subway station], located at the intersection of Fordham Road and Jerome Avenue, also in Fordham Manor. The NYPD has launched a murder inquiry following an incident in the Westchester Square section of The Bronx in which a 15-year-old boy died. The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing from Belmont. Police said that Taniah Gale, of 588 East 181st Street, Bronx, NY, was last seen Saturday, Jan. 14, at around 8 p.m., leaving her home.
