The FDNY confirmed on Saturday, Feb. 5, that emergency medical services transported one person to a local hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 2, from 100 W Mosholu Parkway in Jerome Park. An FDNY official confirmed to Norwood News a report of an emotionally disturbed person at the location at 2:12 p.m. on the date in question, and said one person had been transported to North Central Bronx Hospital. A new study co-authored by two pediatric gastroenterologists at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) has highlighted the danger of small, high-powered magnets commonly sold as “desk toys” for adults, and which are sometimes ingested by children. The study, published in Pediatrics, combines data from 25 children’s hospitals in the U.S, assessing 596 children over three years when high-powered magnets were reintroduced to the market, after having been removed previously by the Consumer Product Safety Commission in 2012. Lehman College student, Sera Janneh, 27, was among the 17 victims of the Twin Parks North West residential building fire which broke out on Sunday, Jan. 9, in the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx. Janneh was a sophomore at Lehman and was majoring in psychology and minoring in early childhood education.
