Representatives from the New York Lottery announced on Sunday, Jan. 8, that there was one $1 million-winning ticket for the Jan. 7 Powerball drawing, and four $50,000 winning tickets, including one ticket which was sold in The Bronx. Officials said the winning tickets were sold at the following locations: Shop ‘n Save, located at 10 Buffalo Street in Gowanda, which sold one prize-winning ticket worth $1,000,000.00 Tulip Caterers located at 1020 Tulip Avenue in Franklin Square (Nassau County) which sold one prize-winning ticket worth $50,000.00 7-Eleven #36674B located at 690N French Road in Buffalo, which sold one prize-winning ticket

Health Commissioner Issues Advisory NYC health commissioner, Dr. Ashwin Vasan, issued a new advisory on Dec. 9 as NYC faces high levels of a triple onslaught of COVID-19, flu, and RSV cases. A fire which broke out in the Norwood section of the Bronx has resulted in no injuries, according to the FDNY. Fire department officials said they received a call on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 9.13 a.m. regarding a fire on the 2nd floor of a 5-story building (100 x 60 sq. ft.) at 315 East 206th Street. All Hands, comprising 12 FDNY units and 60 firefighters, were asked to respond to the blaze, which was brought under control at 9.35 a.m., FDNY officials said. After operating as a “museum without walls” for more than 12 years, The Bronx Children’s Museum has finally found a permanent home in the South Bronx. Located near Yankee Stadium, along the Harlem River, The Bronx Children’s Museum is set to officially open to the public on Saturday, Dec. 3. A long-awaited, ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in celebration of the opening of the museum’s opening. The Bronx Children’s Museum is the first ever children’s museum in The Bronx, and event organizers estimate they will engage with 24,000 children at the facility during its first year.

New York Lottery representatives announced that one top-prize winning ticket was sold for the November 20th, Take 5 evening drawing. The ticket, worth $31,150, was purchased at Fordham Lucky 7, located at 152 E 188th Street #154 in the Fordham Heights section of The Bronx. Lottery officials also announced there were multiple, top-prize winning tickets sold for the November 19th, Take 5 drawing, including one sold in The Bronx.
