“Ghost Bike” Memorials and Ride of Silence Honor Fallen Cyclists and E-Bikers

A dozen or so bike riders participated in the annual Bronx “Ghost” bike “Ride of Silence” through the borough on Wednesday, May 20. The event was organized, as usual, by the NYC Street Memorial Project and Transportation Alternatives and was dedicated to the memory of the 47 bikers killed in Bronx traffic collisions since 2005, according to Transportation Alternatives.

Four Men Charged with Sale of Assault Weapon & Eight Other Guns to Undercover Cop

Bronx District Attorney (DA) Darcel D. Clark and Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch announced May 20 that four men have been indicted in a firearms trafficking conspiracy in which nine guns were sold to an undercover police officer out of a building in the Concourse section of the Bronx. One of the guns was a .300 Blackout semi-automatic rifle.

PA Coroner’s Office Identifies 1992 Jane Doe as Missing Bronx Woman Through Forensic Genetics

The Berks County Coroner’s Office in Pennsylvania announced Thursday, June 4, that it has positively identified human remains discovered in Windsor Township, Berks County, PA more than three decades ago, as being the body of a young Bronx mother who was  reported missing in the early 1990s, bringing long-awaited answers to a Bronx family who never stopped searching for their loved one.

Shihata announced Thursday, May 20, that a NYC Department of Correction Officer was charged for allegedly accepting thousands of dollars in exchange for delivering documents that he believed were soaked with narcotics to an inmate at Rikers Island.
