Crotona: Police Open Murder Inquiry following Fatal Shooting of 34-Year-Old Man

Police have opened a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man and the non-fatal shooting of a second man in the Crotona section of The Bronx.   An NYPD spokesperson said that on Saturday, March 25, at around 3.07a.m., officers from the 48th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot at the intersection of East 179th Street and Mapes Avenue.   The spokesperson said, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old male with gunshot wounds throughout the body. UPDATE Two Bronx Men Sentenced for Selling Used Ghost Guns & Assault Weapons to Undercover Officer

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Friday, March 24, that two Bronx men were sentenced to prison for their roles in the illegal selling of multiple firearms and large capacity ammunition feeding devices to an undercover NYPD officer. UPDATE University Heights: Male Likely to Survive following Stabbing

Police said a male victim who was stabbed in the University Heights section of the Bronx on Monday night is not likely to die.   No further details were immediately available from the NYPD except that the incident occurred at around 10.30 p.m. on Monday, March 20, at the junction of Webb Avenue and West Kingsbridge Road, the location of a Popeye’s restaurant.   The FDNY later confirmed that first responders were alerted to the incident at 10.36 p.m. and that one patient was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital.
