A plaque commemorating Bronx veterans, located at the Bronx Victory Memorial on Mosholu Parkway in Bedford Park, was photographed on the ground some time before Saturday, Dec. 10. It is unknown if the plaque fell over due to bad weather or if it was purposefully knocked down. As reported, in honor of Veterans’ Day 2022, Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7) recently held the first veterans’ flagging event at the Bronx Victory Memorial site, on Nov. 19. A fire which broke out in the Norwood section of the Bronx has resulted in no injuries, according to the FDNY. Fire department officials said they received a call on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 9.13 a.m. regarding a fire on the 2nd floor of a 5-story building (100 x 60 sq. ft.) at 315 East 206th Street. All Hands, comprising 12 FDNY units and 60 firefighters, were asked to respond to the blaze, which was brought under control at 9.35 a.m., FDNY officials said. The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating a 68-year-old man reported missing in University Heights. It was reported to the police that Luis Berrios, 68, of 12 West 184th Street was last seen on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at around 11.28 a.m., leaving his home. He is described as male, is around 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs 115 pounds, has brown eyes and short salt-and-pepper hair. Police have arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old man in University Heights. Police said the incident occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at around 5.04 a.m. Police responded to a call regarding an assault which took place at the corner of 183rd Street and University Avenue. “Upon arrival, officers observed a 28-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive with a stab wound to the torso,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the scene and transported the male to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Following an early morning, Nov. 24th, residential fire in which two people died at 1730 Harrison Avenue in Morris Heights, the FDNY is encouraging the public to check out their fire safety tips, while a GoFundMe page has been set-up to support the victims of the tragedy.
