UPDATE Ten Injured, including Kids & one Senior Citizen, in Foxhurst Police-Involved Road Accident

Ten people have been reported injured following a road accident involving a police vehicle on Thursday, Oct. 6, at around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Westchester Avenue and Hoe Avenue in the Foxhurst section of The Bronx, just southeast of Crotona Park East.   Citizens’ App users shared live footage of cordoned-off streets, a large crowd gathered, and multiple members of the NYPD at the location, in the 41st Precinct, after the incident occurred. Police initially confirmed in relation to the injured, “No one is likely at this time,” meaning all victims were expected to survive the accident.

Late Lehman College Faculty Member, David Carroll Fletcher, is Fondly Remembered

Representatives of Lehman College said they are deeply saddened to announce the passing of David Carroll Fletcher, a longtime faculty member in the college’s school of education. They said Fletcher was part of the Lehman family for over two decades and served as an assistant professor in the Department of Middle and High School Education. Mayor, NYC Parks, NYCHA to Build New Open Spaces, Playgrounds at NYCHA Housing Developments

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks), and the NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) announced, on Sept. 14, a pilot program to re-imagine and invest in nearly three acres of NYCHA open space, including playgrounds, at two developments in the Soundview section of The Bronx, three in Queens, and one in Brooklyn.   The announcement was held at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new open space at Pomonok Houses in Queens, which has been fully reconstructed under the pilot program and now includes fitness equipment, sensory play equipment, seating, and new landscaping.

Tradition Continues after Two Decades of 9/11 Remembrance

Norwood: Elected Officials Host Back-to-School Event in the Williamsbridge Oval

  Music, games, sunshine and fun was the order of the day on Friday, Aug. 26, as Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, State Sen. Jamaal Bailey (S.D. 36), Assembly Member Jeffrey Dinowitz (A.D. 81), Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez (A.D. 80) and District 11 City Council Member Eric Dinowitz hosted a Back-to-School Family Day at the Williamsbridge Oval, in conjunction with NYC Department of Parks & Recreation (NYC Parks).   The event consisted of various games, activities and music, along with a giveaway of schools bags and supplies. The assemblyman told Norwood News he was happy with the outcome of the event.
