Botanical Square Residents Without Gas Since 2024

Bronx residents of four apartment buildings at Botanical Square in Bedford Park have been without a gas service for over a year since a Webster Avenue water main on Dec. 16, 2024, caused havoc in the local area, as reported at the time.

Vote!” This was essentially the message shared at Downey’s Bar in Riverdale on Sunday, Feb. 1, as three Unity Democrat candidates seeking election in the upcoming Democratic primaries in Assembly District 81 made their respective pitches to around 80 local Bronxites.

New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) nurses continued their strike action on Day 21 (Week 3), Sunday, Feb. 1, outside Montefiore Medical Center on 210th Street in Norwood, The Bronx, as plans are afoot to rally in Manhattan on Monday, Feb. 2, outside the office of New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who is running for reelection this year.
