Democratic mayoral nominee and Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani (A.D. 36) was back in The Bronx on Sept. 2 when he was joined by a majority of Bronx elected officials from the Bronx Democratic Party, alongside New York Attorney General Letitia James and New York City Public Advocate Jumanne Williams as they gave the candidate their formal endorsement in his upcoming bid to win the mayoral general election on Nov. 4.

The NYPD is seeking the public’s help locating a 24-year-old man reported missing from the Morris Heights section of The Bronx who was last seen in lower Manhattan at an address opposite Manhattan Detention Center. Police said Branden Lopez, 24, of 1928 University Avenue in The Bronx was last seen leaving 139 Centre Street in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at around 9.17 a.m. They said he’s described as White, Hispanic, male, is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs around 310 pounds, has brown hair, and brown eyes. After Alex O’Keefe, the award-winning screenwriter of Hulu’s “The Bear,” who is Black, posted on social media that he was allegedly arrested following a complaint made by a White woman about the way he was seated while aboard a Metro North train to Connecticut on Sept. 18, the screenwriter has since said he is suing the MTA and has released a video extract of the encounter.
UPDATE President Trump Suspends Entry of Certain Alien Nonimmigrant Workers to the U.S.
U.S. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Friday, Sept. 19, to restrict entry into the United States of certain “H-1B aliens” as nonimmigrant workers, requiring a $100,000 payment to accompany or supplement H-1B petitions for new visa applications with the aim of curbing “abuses that displace U.S. workers and undermine national security.”
