Fordham Manor: 23-Year-Old Man Shot Twice

The NYPD said a 23-year-old man was shot twice in Fordham Manor on Thursday, Feb. 10.   Sergeant Edward Riley, NYPD spokesperson, said officers responded to the incident which occurred in front of 2556 Davidson Avenue at 8 p.m. on Thursday. A 23-year-old male victim told police he was walking [along the street] when he heard gunfire. He then sustained two gunshots, one to his left leg and one to his left arm.   The victim said the unidentified suspect fled the area in a vehicle in an unknown direction. The victim was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital.

Bridge and Street Closures in The Bronx from February 11 through March 5

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has advised of the following street and bridge closures in the Bronx from Feb. 11 to March 5.   Bergen Avenue between East 152nd Street and Westchester Avenue: This street will be closed Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Feb. 22, to facilitate crane operation. Op-Ed: “Broken Windows” are Symbols of a Society that is Out of Control

Broken windows and graffiti-laden subway cars are symbols of a society that is out of control. A permissive approach to crime is making it extremely difficult for law-abiding citizens to live in New York City.   Former Police Commissioner William Bratton was credited with controlling crime between the 1990s and 2017 in Boston, New York City, and Los Angeles, through enforcing punishment for minor crimes in order to prevent major crimes. In short, enforcing the law for minor infractions of the law took criminals off the streets and sent a message that authorities were serious about cracking down on crime.

Fordham Manor: 15-Year-Old Boy Shot

  Police confirm a male teen was shot in Fordham Manor on Thursday and is being treated at Jacobi hospital.   Police said officers responded to a call regarding the incident in which a 15-year-old boy was shot once in the left leg at approximately 4.15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, at 2543 Webster Avenue, which is the location of Burlington store.   They said the victim was brought to Jacobi Medical Center where he was in stable condition. Police said the shooter fled the scene in an unidentified vehicle. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Norwood: Man Arrested following Daylight Assault in Williamsbridge Oval Park

A man was arrested in Williamsbridge Oval park in Norwood on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 10, following an assault.   The NYPD confirmed that officers responded to an incident at around 2.55 p.m. on Thursday and a 61-year-old man was later arrested and charged with assault and harassment. Kingsbridge Heights Community Center Brings Computers & Art to Community

The Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) has teamed up with TechFIN, a firm that renovates old computers, and has donated the first of 50 desktop computers to residents in the community, rather than sending them to a landfill.   On Thursday, Jan. 13, staffers at KHCC were busy processing the paperwork for residents who were patiently waiting in line, respecting the social distancing guidelines. Boxes of computers were later brought out of the center, located at 3101 Kingsbridge Terrace in the Kingsbridge Heights neighborhood, and were placed in the hands of waiting students and other community members who will use them

Fordham Heights: Search for Man following Robbery Pattern

  The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the unidentified man seen in the attached video and photos who is sought for questioning in connection with a burglary pattern identified in the Fordham Heights section of The Bronx.   Regarding the first incident, it was reported to police that on Monday, Jan. 10, at approximately 8.40 a.m., the man entered a residential apartment located at Ryer Avenue and East 181st Street through the front door by breaking the lock.   Once inside, he removed an electronic bike and construction tools valued at approximately $7,605.
