The NYPD is investigating an assault on a woman at Woodlawn subway station.

It was reported to police that on Monday, Feb. 28, at 7.12 a.m., the victim, a 46-year-old woman, was walking down the stairs to the Woodlawn subway station when a man in front of her turned around and punched her in the face. He then fled the scene, on foot. The victim suffered pain, swelling, and a laceration to her lips.

The woman later reported the incident and refused medical attention at that time. Police had identified a person of interest in relation to the incident but have since confirmed that the person in question is no longer being sought in connection with the assault and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
