UPDATE Bedford Park: “Dexter” Film Shoot Prohibits Parking, Frustrating Residents & Ruining Superbowl Sunday
A number of Bedford Park residents are extremely frustrated that their Superbowl Sunday was disrupted due to having to move their cars amid heavy snow on Sunday night, Feb. 9, to facilitate filming in their neighborhood this week from Monday, Feb. 10, through Wednesday, Feb. 12 of the new Paramount+ “Dexter” show.
Freedom Youth Family Justice Center Continues to Fight Human Trafficking
Freedom Youth Family Justice Center (FYFJC), which seeks to empower, strengthen, and stabilize victims and survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence, held a “Stars of Freedom” annual gala on Friday, Jan. 24, at Eastwood Manor in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx. Founded by Monique Riley, CEO, in conjunction with her husband, Joseph Riley, executive director, the Freedom Youth team took some well-deserved time out to celebrate their hard work and honor survivors, friends and allies.

Two Residential Fires Displace More Bronx Residents
Two recent residential fires in the north Bronx have left more residents displaced, Red Cross officials said. An FDNY spokesperson said there were no injuries reported following a residential fire at 3065 Grand Concourse in Bedford Park on Wednesday night, Jan. 29. FDNY officials said they received a call at 9.53 p.m. for a reported fire at the 6-story, multiple dwelling located between East 203rd Street and East 204th Street.
UPDATE Teen Charged in Fatal Shooting Near Courthouse Linked to 2nd Shooting that Left Senior Wounded
A Bronx teenager who has been charged in the shooting that took place near Bronx Criminal Court at the end of last year is linked to a separate nonfatal shooting in The Bronx of an elderly woman late last year, prosecutors said. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced Friday, Feb. 7 that a 15-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree murder for fatally shooting a man across the street from the Bronx Hall of Justice in broad daylight in November 2024, as reported.

Inside Broadway Hosts “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” at P.S. 78X
The nonprofit organization, Inside Broadway, kicked off its 2025 touring production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” at P.S. 78X, The Anne Hutchinson School, located at 1400 Needham Avenue in Williamsbridge, on Wednesday, Jan. 15. The 12-week touring production is currently bringing Broadway directly to 45 public schools across all five boroughs.
